What a week - someone somewhere in the Internet just flicked the switch that said “hey, pay attention to TPN Rock” because it’s gone a bit crazy in a great way. I’ve had CDs arrive in the post from bands I’ve never heard before; there’s been megabytes upon megabytes of MP3 files (and the occasional WMA) land in my inbox (ewanspence-at-gmail-com) asking if I would consider someone’s band for the show; the download numbers took a massive hockey stick curve in an upwards direction; there’s interest from the mainstream press and other companies…
And there’s another six unsigned, unknown or underappreciated bands in TPN Rock #14 - because that’s what it’s all about. Enjoy the music, and let me know what you think of the show.

…How can I not love a program with a tagline that plays off one of my favorite Spinal Tap moments (“This show goes to elevenâ€)?! Every week your host, Ewan Spence, plays the six most interesting, new songs from all the ones he’s recently received from up-and-coming bands. The result is a half hour of new, good, commercial-free music with minimal DJ introductions… My colleague Jim Minatel likes to say that ever since I got my MP3 player I’ll never have to listen to any music made after 1979. Well, aside from the fact that very little good music has been made since then, I almost fell into that trap. Thanks to The Rock Show, I can listen to great new music every week without having to listen to those lousy DJ’s and annoying commercials. Oh, and did I mention that I haven’t listened to the radio for almost an entire month now?

Hey J!! Another Spinal tap fan - HALLELUJAH!!!! I love the guitar solo trapped in the egg scene… have you seen ‘Strange Fruit’ - a brilliant Spinal genre type British film made in the last few years. You have to check it out - same sort of plot - great British actors… and some ripping music too.
Like you - I thought music had died - around 1984 actually…..
I’m still istening to the frst Van Halen album over and over and over…. my OLD Magnum stuff is almost worn out with overplay - Rush and ACDC have had a good dusting down recently too.
I’ve discovered some ace unsigned bands too very recently - and actively promoting them. I haven’t listened to the radio since January!!!
Ewan - I’m listening to the show now - fab mate - love checking the sounds as I’m typing. I like this line up better than last show - great raw quality to the second track as I’m listening to them - great vocals too.. sounds a little like the Cult circa early 80’s - great retro sound.
I’ll shut up now - you start me talking about music and I don’t give up!
phew!
