Mike Borgia, finally, gets his session on TPN Rock. Recorded last month, this singer songwriter has been a personal favourite of mine since I played ‘When The Bombs Come’ back on The Friday Rock Show #52, and is one of the songs that I use in my warm up routine (which if you listened to some of the live shows during April, you’d already realise). Anyway, three tracks, introduced by Mike, from his new album Philistines and Alcoholics.

Gotta say, I have been so looking forward to getting this session out to you all. Urbansnake is a band that TPN Rock has followed for a long time, and when I received their new CD, White Knuckle, in the post, not only could I not wait to listen to it, but to let you all hear it as well. A big thanks to Vinny and the band for taking part in another TPN Rock Session!

A little treat for the Ne Year. While I was over at Podcamp Boston (late October 2007) there were a good number of podsafe musicians putting on shows, and I captured a few of them. And so, with his permission (which actually went “For God’s sake, circulate the live recordings! Don’t just play ‘em, tell the world!!!” So with that endorsement, here’s Matthew Ebel, live from the Bullfinch Yacht Club, Boston…

Yes it’s Christmas time! And I think that calls for an extra-special Christmas Eve show, full of the great Podsafe Classic Christmas tunes, and a bundle of new ones I’ve found. Chat is at a minimum here, so the show can be the timeless classic you listen to every year over the iYule fire, wrapping presents, and wondering what’s going to be under the tree. I can tell you what… a whole load of rockin’

Neall appeared back in TPN Rock #108 with his track Save Me, and I know that a number of you asked if he could come back in The Decades Show to give us another track. Well, I quietly ignored those calls (publicly) as I had already asked Alcott if he’d do a session for us.

Which is here now - talking about three tracks (including the title track) of his new album, Rittenhouse Square (which is available from CD Baby, and other major stores, via his website). Enjoy!

Time for another session I think - Needfire are the band behind both a fantastic mix of Celtic Rock n Roll, and the music behind the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast here at TPN. So as well as all the bumps, jingles and incidental music on the daily report from Scotland’s Capital and the largest Arts festival in the world, I thought I’d let them musically spread their wings here as well.

Those of you watching the music charts may well recall that back in January this year, long before Bum Rush the [iTunes] Charts, a young band from Colchester, Essex, became the first unsigned band to reach the UK Top 40. Not a store chart, or a local hit parade, but the honest to god, national, officially recognized Top 40. Reaching number 31, Koopa (for that is the band) did what we all thought would happen at some point. But they did it first!

So congrats to them for that, and also for not sitting back on that first. The ‘tricky second single’ has been released today, so I thought that it would be nice to honor both their previous success, and showcase them a little bit more, and offer them only the third TPN Rock Session.

Everyone… Koopa!

And now, something a little bit special while I continute to tour America. Bob Leslie’s The Outfit were playing Edinburgh just before I crossed the Atlantic, and I was there to capture a live session from the new line up. It’s raw, real, and I’m pretty sure you’re all going to appreciate

Between Show #39 and Show #40 is, of course Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year, and trust me I’m in no fit state to do jsutice to a decades show right now. Luckily, John, Gerry and Houston of The Martians came up trumps, with their new EP, The Pumpkin Grave. They’re still searching for a good website for themselves, so if you’d like to get in touch with them, I’ll happily pass on any email or comments you send.

So, for the Festive period, here’s two exclusive brand new tracks from The Martians. Enjoy!
