Yes it;s that time of year again. The Eurovision Song Contest is upon on u on this side of the Atlantic, and it’s time for my celebration of the contest, the ethos, and the feeling by playing no music from the contest, no second songs from the artist, and no relation to the actual contest beyond the name.

But it’s still going to be a superbly silly TPN Rock show.

This was second of our scheduled ‘live recording’ shows where you can have an early preview of TPN Rock’s Friday Rock Show by loading up the stream - don’t worry if you missed it, I’ll post up a reminder for next week’s time on Thursday. The show itself is definitly a happy bouncing one, and full of some strong anthems and melodies. One to clear the floor beforehand so you can start moshing away. Enjoy!

No, back to the programming you normal expect on a Friday, a little slice of Rock to kickstart your weekend. Back at home in Edinburgh, some kicking tunes, and a bucketload of rain outside. Oooh it’s good to be back!

Also a big thank you to everyone who ‘tuned in’ to the recording of this show on the live audio stream. I did put it together at short notice, so there wasn’t a chance to post any details here, but it looks like it was a success, so keep your eyes open for details on how to listen from 1530 next Friday (UK summertime)

It’s slightly delayed from Friday, and more slightly delayed from previous Friday’s, but I’m back in the smooth leather DJ chair for another Friday Rock Show. With it being #120, it’s time for a traditional decades show, where I look back at the feedback and reaction from the last shows (#111-#119) and bring back the best bands for another track.
Back in the studio in Edinburgh, for a brief respite before I hit the road again (and this trip ends up at Podcamp Boston, so get in touch if you’re going to be there). Been a lot happening in the lalast two weeks, including Accident Mash #4, and Green Dragon helming up Monday’s TPN Rock, so I’ll bring you all up to speed on what I think in the show - alongside the splendid six for your weekend…

Right after I finished recording this, my IM blinks with a listener going “This is a Best Of… day isn’t it?” Well yes, it should have been one of those, but I’ve went off the rocker this week and followed up on a question I asked on Facebook - what is your favourite unsigned rock track? And they’re all lined up tonight for your pleasure.

While I’m busy doing the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast, it’s now almost four weeks of intense interviewing - but as it draws to a close, there’s a certain Zen-like calmness descending over me.
Even though it’s a Monday…. Hey Harry Potter was out, I got preview tickets to see the new Transformers movie before UK general release, and I hadn’t got six cleared tracks. So I waited jsut a little bit, and I’m sure this is worth the wait.

And as mentioned in the show, find me on Last.FM (I’m EwanSpence, rather obviously)

Update: I’ve remembered what the chunky power chord song was that I was trying to name in the show. It was Let It All Fall, by T’Pau, from the Red album.

It’s Friday night, it’s time to forget about the last week, the wind, the rain (the breathalyser?) and head on out to the mosh pit. Actually, a bit less violent as I seem to be in a more earthy/grunge/prog mood tonight. Ah well, with the exclusive first podcast play of The Martian’s new singe, Our Home, I couldn’t be happier. Enjoy!

And here we are, crossing over the arbitary mark that is one hundred shows. It’s not really a 100, with all the Rock Agains, the different Monday features, and the occasional Session (I hope you all liked Koopa’s session on Monday!) the number of TPN Rock shows are well over 220 shows, but then, time for a little bit of a party, like we need a excuse to let our hair down here!

So here’s the plan, call up my big list of MP3’s, take the top ten most played TPN Rock tracks on my machine, and run them all together to give a lovely look at what my psyche has picked over the months and years.

Right then, that’s me back from Pirates of the Carribean - and the Rock n Roll lifestyle doesn’t stop there.
Anyway, the big question tonight is if I was to put on a live recording of TPN Rock, over an internet stream, when would be the best time for you all to listen. Please give me the times in GMT (UK listeners, not current UK time, as we’re on summer time). I’ll take all your schedules on board and see if we can;t do a bit of live radio and podcasting at the same time in early May!

So what’s in the mix this week? Well its a regular show - nothing special this time around, folks - not that the mix isn’t special. There’s a bundle of bands here from SXSW that I’ve had time to have a closer listen to, some long term podcast favourites starting to make it big, and a fond rememberance of hosts sadly departed.
